It’ll be easy to convince mum to have a slice of this cake, or two. Swensen’s has come up with a Heart of Youth cake to celebrate mothers everywhere this year, and besides being absolutely irresistible thanks to the vanilla flavour that comes with chocolate fudge chunks, and pink piping jelly with an outline of pearl cream, here’s the deal: it also comes with marine collagen to keep mum’s skin looking young. Yes, you read right – it’s skincare in a cake. Basically, collagen is one of the body’s main proteins, and it’s instrumental in keeping bones and skin young, so putting collagen into cake is pretty much the most ingenious idea ever: it’s the perfect excuse to have a second slice. Or a third. If only this applied to all dessert.
