What on earth is a lipstick mafia? We’d imagine a leather-clad female gang, each member toting a lipstick as a weapon. Like a deadly blade, or a mini sniper, or a flesh-cutting laser concealed on the inside.

Okay, we might have watched one too many Bond movies, but the real definition of a lipstick mafia, according to the people at Too Faced Cosmetics who coined the term, is “Fab-lipped partners in pretty out to revolutionise the beauty world one lip look at a time”. Too Faced’s gang of lipstick mobsters is made up of six international online beauty personalities who are the faces of the campaign, to encourage women all over the world to be adventurous with their lip colour.

Too Faced’s iconic Melted Longwear Liquified Lipstick comes in 15 shades ranging from nudes to deep berries, so you can experiment with the whole spectrum of colours to your heart’s content. Next month, there’ll be the new Melted Metal Liquified Metallic Lipstick in eight shades if you want to add a foil effect to your lips and do a throwback to the glorious 90s.

Just last week, Thai beauty blogger and makeup artist Pearypie, who’s one of the six that make up the Lipstick Mafia, was in town to do a lip tutorial at Sephora ION. She did an ombre lip, but the opposite of the typical Korean trend by putting the darker colour on the outside and the lighter one on the inside, using colours from the Melted range. It was a bold look we can see being perfectly in place for a glam night out,  or just something a bit more daring for a regular day. We say go ahead and wear it for the office, or weekend brunch. Lipstick rules are meant to be broken, after all.
