Modern fashion, right up to its take on modern society’s diversity – the latest Uniqlo collaboration, designed by Hana Tajima is all that. The UK-born fashion blogger and designer puts forth a special modest wear collection, catered mostly to conservative dressers, though you can definitely tell it’s fashion-conscious too.
Essentially, the pieces are not just conservative, but contemporary; modest, and also modern. It’s about time.
Pants, rayon blouses and long dresses all see a relaxed fit, and the airy pieces come in neutral colours, with some navy, mustard and jewel tones thrown in the mix. There are stylish printed and tie-dyed headscarves and headbands, as well as inner AIRism hijab headscarves with their patented lightweight, breathable material.
And did we mention that talented Malaysian songstress, Yuna, is fronting the campaign? Even if you aren’t particularly looking to cover up, the billowy trousers and wrap maxi skirts can fit into any wardrobe. Talk about universal appeal.
UNIQLO x Hana Tajima collection is priced from $4.90 for an inner headscarf to $59.90 for a long dress, available from 3 July, exclusively at 313@Somerset and online. uniqlo.com/sg
