When they see you rolling in this, they will be hating – A new Vespa 946 will be released this September to mark the 40th anniversary of the foundation of the Giorgio Armani brand and the 130th birthday of the Piaggio Group. The scooter, designed in collaboration between the two, is a contemporary take on the classic Vespa 946, in gorgeous matte grey with subtle hints of green (only visible in a particular light). With appliqué and contrasting reflective piping in grey and black, aluminium cylinder blocks and brown leather finishes, it is the epitome of style on wheels. Its metal portions are produced with galvanic treatments to have a satin and opaque effect. Finally, the scooter is stamped with the Emporio Armani name on the side and the iconic eagle logo is kept low-key but gives off an indefinite shine above the headlight.
Not only does it look good, it has the mechanics to back it up – electronic riding controls compatible with the newest Internet gadgets, 220mm double disc brake, a two-channel ABS braking system and large 12-inch wheels to ensure a steady ride. It’s also environmentally friendly with a four-stroke electronic injection engine that improves fuel economy and has reduced emissions.
Along with the Vespa 946 Emporia Armani, the clothing brand will be releasing a capsule collection to match rider with pimped ride. The collection, catering to both men and women, will include jackets, vests and trousers, all waterproof, windproof and breathable, and riding accessories like driving gloves, a key holder, hats and sunglasses.
The Vespa 946 Emporio Armani and Vespa 946 Capsule Collection will be available in Asia in selected markets and online in September 2015. The Women’s collection is priced from US$142 and the Men’s collection is priced from US$84.
