Think savoury croissants, and ones stuffed with run-of-the-mill tuna or egg mayo, perhaps with a bit of salad greens, probably come to mind. So Tiong Bahru Bakery’s new interpretations blew our minds, because they’ve put things like a molten ramen egg and xiao long bao fillings in it.

Here are the four flavours on offer:

Cheeky Chicken: OMG, ramen egg on a croissant. It’s paired with bonito flakes and sprinkled with togarashi chilli flakes to channel some Japanese vibes.

Flying Pig: Spicy pork sausage topped with caramelised onion jam and tomatoes, plus a drizzle of miso dressing on top. We’d say this one is the heartiest option.

Rolling Dumpling:  Xiao long bao lovers, rejoice. This is pretty legit, with a minced pork filling smeared with pickled ginger and black vinegar sauce, and topped with chives and sesame seeds.

Jumping Fish: Health nuts, go for this, as it’s a combination of clean “superfoods”: smoked salmon, spinach and ricotta baked into the croissant with a topping of creme fraiche and fresh dill.


These croissants come in a $12 lunch set, which includes two croissants of your choice and side of salad with a yuzu dressing and topped with seeds, nuts and dried fruits. They’re also sold individually at $4.50.
