Airbnb is one of those sites that a lot of us turn to when we’re looking for unique accommodations when we travel overseas (or if we’re on a super tight budget). Either way, Airbnb has changed the way we travel and see the world (there was this one time I stayed above an old theatre in London’s West End!). Every now and again, you’ll be able to find places you never thought you could stay on (e.g. that Floating House on River Thames in London, or the Bamboo House in Abiansemal, Bali, or in a Ski Lift in Courchevel, Rhône-Alpes).
So of course Singapore had to have a piece of that pie too. They’ve partnered with Esplanade and the people behind SG50 to provide one lucky winner (and three loved ones) a one night Airbnb staycation at the Esplanade stage and four tickets to the catch the NDP over the Jubilee weekend.
Sounds pretty cool, but you’re probably wondering where you’ll be sleeping. No, you won’t be sleeping on a makeshift bed made of the theatre’s chairs. Instead, the entire stage will be transformed into a retro-inspired home from the 60s. But it’s not just a sleepover. No. Since you’ll be staying on a stage where thousands have performed on, you’ll get to learn some basic joget steps yourself while dressed in Peranakan costumes from the Main Wayang Company. To top it off, you’ll get an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the backstage corridors, as well as a culinary experience at Esplanade’s rooftop restaurant.
