Spread the news – this one’s a queue you know everyone, especially Singaporeans, would be willing to jump in line for: Hello Kitty plushies. And the best thing? You might not have to queue. Yep, our eyebrows are raised as high as they can go too.
Getting your Hello Kitty collectibles – online
It might call for some dedicated hours camping in front of your computer though, but at least they’re delivered right to your doorstep. From 11am on 20 July 2015, a special SG50 Hello Kitty Collector’s Set, $80, will be available for online purchase at onlinestore.mcdonalds.com.sg.
The set sees six SG50 Hello Kitty plush collectibles, along with a Limited Edition Singapore landscape booklet (inclusive of six paper standees and six Hello Kitty cards), as well as six Extra Value Meal food vouchers valued at S$5 each. You’ll be limited to three sets per online transaction though. And as emphasised throughout the press release, it’s “while stocks last”.
Getting your Hello Kitty collectibles in restaurants
From 11am, 27 July 2015, the individual dolls can be bought at $5 each with every purchase of an Extra Value Meal at McDonald’s restaurants, up to four plushies per store visit.
There’ll be a new design every Monday, promptly at 11am:
- Trishaw Uncle (From 27 July)*
- SG50 Parade (From 3 August)*
- Orchid Lover (From 10 August)*
- Durian Lover (From 17 August)*
- Samsui Woman: (From 24 August)*
In addition, McDonald’s Singapore will also launch a Limited Edition Hello Kitty Plush Collectible dressed as McDonald’s Crew from 11am on 6 August 2015.
Additionally, part of McDonald’s efforts to celebrate SG50 include familiar favourites of Love SG50 Cones, this time in an iconic red cone for the Vanilla soft serve at just 50 cents each, available from 7 to 9 August.
There’s also a limited edition SG50 packaging for three of their well-loved food items – the McSpicy, Filet-o-Fish, and, get this, Twister Fries! Yep, the ones we thought we’d only get during CNY. The designs feature colloquial Singaporean phrases and quotes, such as “Steady Bom Pi Pi” and ”Shiok”, but honestly, they had us at twister fries. All of these will be available from 23 July 2015 across all restaurants.
