Pharrell is on a roll in bringing the iconic Superstar model to life. Following the success of the Supercolor collection, he returns this time with two Superstar Supershell collections, a collaboration between himself and four very different international talents.
The “Artwork” Collection is a series of Superstar sneakers that feature the graphic artworks and designs by contemporary Japanese artist Mr., artist, photographer and director Cass Bird and New York contemporary artist Todd James. Out of the 12 Superstar sneakers that have been used as canvases for these artists, six of them were designed by Pharrell himself. He says that his artworks are an exploration of colour in general, and its connection to our life force and energy. These kicks come in limited quantities and are available in either black or white colourways to allow the designs to fully shine in the limelight.
The “Sculpted” Collection on the other hand features the artworks of Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid, alongside James, Mr. and Pharrell, in specially moulded 3D designs on the Shelltoe; a first for the Superstar model. Pharrell’s two personal designs in this collection further cements his enthusiasm in the concept of relativity.
The adidas Originals Superstar Supershell “Artwork” and “Sculpted” Collection are available at all adidas Originals stores and online. $149-$169.
