The Golden Jubilee weekend is over, but that doesn’t mean that the celebrations have to come to a halt. Local rock act Caracal and rapper THELIONCITYBOY will be performing in New York at Madison Square Park this September for the SGMUSO Live Showcase, a collaborative effort between The Music Society, Singapore (SGMUSO) and Singapore Tourism Board (STB) that has been running in parallel with Singapore: Inside Out, a travelling showcase featuring Singapore’s contemporary creative talents from various disciplines, throughout the year as part of the SG50 celebrations. Last April, indie pop outfit Take Two and contemporary ethnic trio SA took the stage in Beijing while Charlie Lim, Gentle Bones and Pleasantry played at the well-known record store, Rough Trade, in London just two months ago.
“We are pleased that this partnership has provided opportunities for Singapore’s promising musicians to share their music internationally and collaborate with new partners such as London’s iconic Rough Trade music store. We are confident that Caracal and THELIONCITYBOY will be well- received by the New York City audience, and look forward to working with SGMUSO to bring an exciting line-up of local music for the November homecoming leg of Singapore: Inside Out,” said Ms Carrie Kwik, Executive Director (Arts, Entertainment and Integrated Resorts) of Singapore Tourism Board.
