We’ve seen it. We’ve heard about it. And some of us have owned a pair at least once in our lives. But do we really know anything about it beyond its name and collections? In 1978, the UGG® brand was first trademarked in the US by an Australian surfer, and gained momentum in the surf shops along the California coast. The boots quickly became a symbol that represented the relaxed southern California culture in the mid 80’s. Despite its widespread popularity among women, it originally targeted men, which is why they began to refocus on the UGG® For Men collection back in 2011; a way to reclaim their “original customer”.

So guys, if you’ve been itching for a pair of UGGs, this one’s for you. Whether or not you’re in touch with fashion, you’ll notice that sneakers are everywhere. They’re no longer confined to the four walls of a gym. You see them paired with a suit, everyday jeans and even shorts. UGG® has decided to create a new collection of sneakers that incorporates the comfort of the Classic Boot (which they’re known for) into the classic styling of sneakers. The new collection features the Bueller, Steiner and Tobin models that take after the casual silhouette of sneakers, combining them with deconstructed styling and distressed materials in various block colours.

UGG For Men Sneaker Collection, $175 – $220. Available at Takashimaya Shopping Centre, Ngee Ann City #B1-51 & Takashimaya Department Store, Men’s Department, Level 3.
