The Alice + Olivia SS16 presentation at the recent NYFW was all about desert-inspired fashion (billowy silhouettes, earthy tones, a good dose of vibrant florals), but our eyes were very much also drawn to the practically bare faces on the models. Going with the whole desert vibe, we’re aware that the clothes don’t call for much makeup – but it wasn’t about the whole no-makeup look (that seems to be so predominant on runways these days), but rather, how the skin genuinely glowed from the inside.
The models’ skin was actually prepped with the Skin Inc’s Prep-Nourish-Seal regime, which promises to be a “facial-in-a-flash”. Here’s the exact skincare combination you need to know about:
Exfoliation is a necessary first step, and the Pure Revival Peel is really one of the gentlest exfoliators we’ve tried. Just let the clear gel sit on the skin for a few seconds and emulsify, and then you can rub all the dead skin away, and makeup goes on smooth like a dream.
This is done with the My Daily Dose serum. While you can get your custom-blended cocktail serum designed to meet your specific skin needs, for this runway show the Hydrate ’em Serum was used to both hydrate and smooth out fine lines with the ingredients of ceramids, Coenzyme Q10 and hyaluronic acid, creating a truly flawless base for the makeup.
The Pure Deepsea Hydrating Mask is another favourite of ours, for its weightless yet deep hydration in the form of a clear gel leave-on mask. The deep sea Okinawa water is full of nutrients to improve moisture levels in the skin, which is really the key to using less makeup.
