Kong Hyo Jin 05

September 2, 2015

If we had to recommend just one K-drama to watch this year, it’ll have to be KBS’ The Producer, a romantic comedy about the lives of KBS TV producers, for sure. It’s not really Kim Soo Hyun who’s the main attraction here (though he does play an endearingly clueless rookie producer in the show, quite far removed from the cool-as-ice alien he was in My Love From The Stars); it’s the female lead Gong Hyo Jin who stole the show for us. She plays Tak Ye Jin, an experienced variety show producer who finds herself caught between her childhood sweetheart and fellow producer Ra Joon Mo, portrayed by Cha Tae Hyun, and Kim Soo Hyun’s Baek Seung Chan, one of the TV station’s newbies.

Gong’s character in the show is so likeable because of her often hilarious antics in the numerous awkward situations she finds herself caught in – nothing like the seemingly perfect, princessy female leads that tend to dominate other K-dramas. Also, it’s how she manages to bring out her character’s personality so perfectly in her very on-point outfits and beauty looks (we had serious hair envy after watching her in this show).

If like us, you found yourself trawling through Google to find out what makeup she was using in the show, what you need to know is she’s the latest ambassador of Korean brand Clio, and her flawless complexion and super-cute lip colours are courtesy of the new Clio Kill Cover Liquid Founwear Cushion, and the Virgin Kiss Tension Lip, which she’s helping to launch as part of her first duties as the face of Clio.

The Kill Cover Liquid Founwear Cushion promises the mul-kwang-pi-bu skin of your dreams, which refers to that perfectly dewy complexion that all Korean female stars seem to sport on screen. It’s not a BB cream, but the cushion is infused with liquid foundation instead of higher coverage; it also contains oil with a high refractive index to manipulate light just the right way, leaving the skin with just the right amount of velvety luminosity.

What we’re loving about the Virgin Kiss Tension Lip is its one-of-a-kind texture of a semi-matte film that remains highly pigmented and sits on the lips just right without fading.

To commemorate her role as brand ambassador, these lipstick tubes also come with her signature on them. No wallflower shades here – all six colours are meant to stand out, and the No. 9 Pinkly and No. 10 Peachnista have made their appearances on Gong’s lips on the show. Now you know which shades are going to sell out the quickest.
