Maison Margiela’s line of Replica fragrances are some of the coolest perfumes out there. The most iconic one from the line is Lazy Sunday Morning, inspired by, well, one of the best things ever: a weekend morning when you don’t have to get out of bed. To the house of Margiela, that basically smells like lily of the valley, patchouli, iris and white musk to capture the essence of bare skin and fresh linen.
They release new Replica fragrances now and again, but one of the newest additions has really made us sit up and notice: Lipstick on, from the period of Chicago, year 1952. Margiela describes this as a “night blush and rice powder”, and is meant to bring to mind a lady putting the finishing touches on her makeup, slicking on a crimson red onto her lips in a cloud of rice powder. Basically, old-school beauty in the most glamorous way, which translates into a solid iris perfume with sensual notes of galbanum, on a base of vanilla bourbon and absolute tonka bean.
This all makes for an ultra-feminine scent – after all, the act of carefully applying a coat of red lipstick strongly evokes a womanly elegance. Here’s another one that’s going into our Replica collection.
