October 30, 2015

Every restaurant is putting up something special this weekend, but here, we’ll try to venture beyond your typical pumpkin pie, pumpkin spice latte and Bloody Marys. We’re talking about those that kill it with witty puns and frightfully creative plating, those with spooky, almost-inedible-looking food that you’d wanna chow down on. Gory eats you wouldn’t mind gorging yourself with… only if you have the guts to. Most of these promos end on 31st Oct, so you might wanna do your deed as quickly as possible.

Here are our top five:

1. The Gut Buster Burger, at BWB

BWB - Halloween

Here’s BWB’s special Halloween creation: The Gut Buster Burger ($19) that’s made up of a juicy beef patty, pork sausage, streaky bacon, cheese, egg, BBQ mustard sauce & chilli con carne, which makes for a scary pile of heart-racing stuff. Pair it with a Cranberry Eyeball Punch, at $22 for the set!

Location: Orchard Central, #11-03/04

2. Halloween Afternoon Tea, at Axis Bar & Lounge

axis bar

We know, the idea of a relaxing afternoon tea, clinking little tea cups of the TWG tea of your choice sounds far from scary… until you consider these. There’s a stewed beef’s tongue and heart pie, a chorizo bloody pie, while one of the dishes is called “Dissection” and sees salmon done three ways. Desserts include an orange marmalade cheese mousse that looks like an eyeball. $42++ per person or $80++ for two persons.

Location: Mandarin Oriental, 5 Raffles Ave

3. Halloween Weekend Menu, at Catalunya

Get a big bite of the mains at a nice restaurant, and this one rewards you with sick views of the Marina Bay too. Judging by the looks of these rich appetisers, that includes chilled lobster, pigeon rice with foie gras and oxtail stewed in red wine, you should already be making plans to head there asap.

Location: The Fullerton Pavilion, 82 Collyer Quay
When: 31st Oct – 2 Nov

4. Arachnopizzeria, at Timbre

Unlike other horror houses, there won’t be staged ghouls that lurk in dark corners at the House of Timbre. “More treats than tricks”, they say. The October menu, then, consists of this Halloween pizza, with a saucy tomato pomodoro base, topped off with orange cheddar, beef pepperonis, aioli and olives. Grab their special tiki cocktail, the BLOODY HELL as well.

Location: All Timbre outlets, including Timbre @ The Substation, 45 Armenian Street

5. Zombie Grave Cheesecake and Grim Reaper Macaron, at Joe & Dough

Finally, if you plan on having a house party, try these: Joe & Dough’s Zombie Grave Cheesecake ($6.80), with sour morello cherries mixed with cream cheese and topped with chopped pistachio and almond ‘worms’, best placed alongside the Grim Reaper Macaron ($4.80) with its mixed berry filling enclosed in a chocolate ganache. Place this as the centrepiece of a Halloween-themed table, crumble some oreo bits, and you’re set to wow your guests.

Location: Joe & Dough outlets, including Orchard Gateway #01-10
