An air purifier. Don’t scoff at this ugly appliance or think you don’t need one. The haze is so bad, the term “haze” is wrong….this is SMOG. Haze is “a slight obscuration of the lower atmosphere” — and there’s nothing slight about what’s in the air we breathe. Right now, we’re all breathing in smoke, gases and other atmospheric pollutants and this causes us to have rough, scratchy throats, dry, irritated eyes, and an overall feeling of being unwell. We say, save your money from that next fancy meal or bag, and put it to good use towards an air purifier! This will be an investment that will last you through the years!

Don’t be tricked into buying “humidifiers”, “diffusers”, or “ionizers” — you want an AIR PURIFIER! This Air Purifier must have at least these TWO things:

1. True HEPA filter (High-efficiency particulate arrestance). NOTE: don’t get a HEPA-like filter, get a TRUE HEPA filter.

HEPA filters remove 99.97% of particles that have a size of 0.3 µm. Here’s an example from NEA’s website on what’s in our haze:

Disgusting, right? No wonder we feel so sick from just the smell of burning.

2. Carbon filter

Carbon filters use a bed of activated carbon to remove chemicals and odours in the air. So apart from being able to absorb formaldehyde (cancer-causing), carbon can neutralise smells — like that of a burning tree. So all in all, the air is fresher and you, healthier.

– “Dual Protection” filter that consists of three layers that can remove bacteria, large dust particles, hair and pet fur.

– “Allergy” filter that uses the Proteinase K enzyme to fight dust mites, pollen and mold, rendering them harmless by breaking down their protein combinations.

Noise Level: Max 47 dB / Min 18dB

PROS: Competitive price — offering same benefits as other brands, but at better price.

CONS: Looks like a washing machine. Noisy at high fan speeds.
