cle de peau

A sure sign that Christmas is fast approaching is surely the proliferation of special-edition beauty products, all dressed up to entice shoppers to add them to their end-of-year shopping lists.

The rational side of us reminds us that many of these products are just repackaged versions of products we probably already own, but the irrational side of us is more than glad to put down good money to add all these pretty things to our already overflowing makeup collections all the same.

Of all the holiday makeup collections launching this year, the one from Clé de Peau Beauté definitely elicited the most oohs and aahs. The brand’s Autumn/Winter collection already showed us the Venetian theme it’s going with this year, and the Holiday collection takes it a notch higher by dressing up the products in the theme of “Masquerade Ball”, in reference to the Venetian tradition of partying on the piazza while costumed in elaborate masks.

For this, jewellery designer Joji Kojima designed four mask motifs to adorn each product in the Holiday collection. There’s the Gemma on the makeup coffret, representing the dignity of a queen; the Violetta on the body powder, for a captivating, dynamic personality; the Elena on the nail lacquer trio, for a sophisticated noble lady; and the Rosalie on the serum, symbolising a freely liberated woman.

Besides the enchanting mask motifs, Clé de Peau Beauté has also dressed up the products in an intoxicating wine red that is completely suited for Christmas. It’s really hard to resist the Extra Rich Lipstick when it comes in a wine red and gold case; or the Perfect Lash Mascara in a red tube instead of the familiar dark blue. We definitely know where our Christmas budget is going to this year.
