We all know the song all too well, but for a mall sitting in the heart of Orchard Road, well, they’re taking it literally and throwing a whole slew of events this weekend its the fourth level. Aptly called “Silent Night – A Hush Hush Festive Weekend”, this two-day programme kicks off on 19 December with Singapore’s first Silent Yoga (in conjunction with GuavaPass) classes led by TV presenter, yoga instructor, and NYLON Singapore’s cover girl, Liv Lo.
It’s pretty much like any typical Yoga class, except you’ll be all geared up with a wireless noise-isolating headset throughout to hear your instructor (either Liv herself or Shu Ting from Outta Hatha Yoga) and some deep house music to get through your session. She’ll physically be in the same room, but with the headphones you’ll be able to adjust the volume of the voice and music to your own level of comfort. Yoga mats will be provided thanks to Madana (though you can bring your own if you want) and specially crafted Keffir Water made from fermented organic raw sugar, courtesy of Afterglow and wearecultured, will also be given out. There will be four different sessions – 9am, 11am, 1pm and 3pm – and each one will be capped at 30 participants. Sign up through the GuavaPass mobile app, or register for a slot by dropping an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The second day sees Singapore’s first Silent Disco in a mall with none other than EATMEPOPTART, who’ll be dishing out a repertoire of familiar alternative and indie rock, electro, power pop and other guilty pleasures. Headsets will be given out on a first-come-first-served basis 15 minutes prior to each session, with a max of 60 participants.
This inaugural “Silent Night” weekend is the first of many other of lifestyle concepts curated by Mandarin Gallery to come in 2016. This “Gallery Experience”, as Patrina Tan, Senior Vice President, Retail, Marketing & Leasing, OUE Limited calls it, is meant to provide a “sensorial and experiential shopping environment to rejuvenate Singapore’s prime shopping belt”.
