It’s the first time in their 20-year history that the award show will be spread over two evenings, bringing together more than 250 television industry heavyweights, all vying for the region’s most prestigious industry award. The Asian Television Award (ATA) Show will be celebrating them across 40 categories, including Best Actor and Actress in a Leading Role, Best Lifestyle Programme and Best Lifestyle Programme and Best Entertainment (One-off/Annual). Hosted by Allan Wu, Max Loong, Joey Mead King and Stephanie Carrington, this year’s edition sees the most extensive performance segment yet, with performances by Indonesia’s Anggun, K-pop girl group Secret, Chinese pop “Prince of Love Ballads” Jeff Chang and up-and-coming Swedish boyband, JTR.
The two-day festivities kicked off last night at Suntec City’s state-of-the-art auditorium, welcoming celebrated personalities and industry luminaries from Asia. A total of 28 awards across various formats and genres were presented to honour exceptional content, productions and the people behind the camera, including the Award for Outstanding Contribution to Asian Television, which was presented to Mr Liu Changle, Chairman and CEO of Phoenix Satellite Television for his remarkable inputs and contributions to the broadcast and television industry.
