Who doesn’t know Colourpop by now? We can’t decide if the LA-based cosmetics company earned its fame with its game-changing US$6 Ultra Matte liquid lipsticks, or the fact that even Kylie Jenner approached their factory to make her overpriced lip kits. If the queen of sculpted lips herself takes a shine to the formula, you know it has to be good.

So obviously you’ve wondered – is the makeup really worth all the money and effort? Since Colourpop doesn’t deliver to Singapore, the only way to get hold of brand new products first-hand is through freight forwarding, or one of those nightmarish Carousell/Instagram sprees. And since the products are so cheap – the eye shadows, lip pencils, and lipsticks all go for US$5 – sometimes the cost of freight forwarding might not even seem worth it. Well, we own a handful ourselves, and can swear, hand over heart, that the Colourpop hype is well and truly real. In fact, the formula and no-frills prices are so attractive that the two-year old company has already teamed up with a bevy of famous faces for capsule collabs that are even more kick-ass than the original pieces. So if you’re still on the fence about placing that first order, here are the collaborations worth “splurging” on. (Still cheaper than a Lip Kit.)

1. KathleenLights x Colourpop

One of the first collaborations to catch our eye and catapult Colourpop onto the liquid lipstick scene was with popular beauty YouTuber Kathleen Fuentes – or more popularly known as KathleenLights. Currently at more than 2 million subscribers, the Miami-born beauty guru is best known for her makeup swatch videos and tutorials, so it was a no-brainer that Colourpop would contact her for a collaboration.

We love the 4-in-1 eye shadow set “Where The Light Is” (US$20) – all bronzy, shimmery shades perfect for creating Kathleen’s signature sunset-inspired smokey eye. But the prize of the collection is definitely “Lumiere”, an understated dusty mauve in a matte finish that looks surprisingly fresh on the lips, and makes quite the essential everyday colour. Plus, it comes with a matching lip pencil and ultra matte liquid lippie (“Lumiere 2”), for anyone who can’t get enough of the colour.

2. ItsMyRayeRaye x Colourpop

Another Youtuber collaboration, but this time with sassy Raye Boyce, in a succinct 3-piece collection formulated with the caramel lady in mind. There’s StingRAYE (a cool toned mauve brown), RAYEzor (warm peachy matte nude) and the matching RAYEzor pencil; it’s a small collab but everything we need, really, for that essential classy brown lip.

3. #Alchemy by Jaime King

We’ve officially entered Hollywood territory, with model and actress Jaime King heading this #Alchemy collaboration. It’s a 12-piece collection that impressively covers all bases – from nude lip liners to rich, red carpet-worthy scarlet lips (“JujuRouge”); rosy blushes, bronzers, light-to-dark eyeshadows; and even highlight and contour sticks, for everyone who loves the twist-up make of the Lippie Stix. Overwhelming, yes, but you’d be a fool to pass this up.

4. Jenn Ne Sais Quoi

Yup, you’re seeing this right – Colourpop has finally teamed up with the sweetheart fashion YouTuber Jenn Im for a collab that we know we’re already going to love. Fans of Jenn’s @clothesencounters channel will recognise the bright pop of coral the LA-based YouTuber loves to rock; along with peachy nudes and warm oranges we’re guessing will make an appearance in the collection too. The first sneak peeks swatches are out, but the Jenn Im x Colourpop collection officially drops 26 May. Is it any surprise we’ve already marked our calendars?
