YouTuber Makeup Collaborations Your Soul Will Thank You For

If there’s one good trend to have come out of the 21st Century explosion of influencers and YouTubers – it’s affordable YouTuber makeup collaborations. It’s a wonderful way to recognise the hard work and talents of genuinely invested beauty YouTubers in the industry; paving the way for makeup newbies, and inspiring viewers everywhere. So obviously we were thrilled to hear about the slew of already-released, and upcoming beauty collabs set to release this year – touched by the hands of some of our favourite online beauty gurus. Time to dig into that rainy day fund, folks.

First up on our list of must-haves is the newly released collab between YouTube doll Jenn Im and everyone’s favourite new Californian makeup brand – which dropped just a week ago. Comprising a warm-toned, red-hued eyeshadow quad (called Jenn Ne Sais Quad, no less), a lippie pencil, ultra matte liquid lipstick (both in Dohee), and a Matte X lippie stick (Jenneration X), the collection is basically a starter kit to nailing Jenn’s signature rosy, coral makeup. Needless to say, we’ve already placed our orders for the set, even if it did mean paying for extra agent fees and freight forwarding. So worth it.

Jaclyn Hill x BECCA

$58, available at Sephora
It’s truly a wonder if you’ve never watched a JaclynHill1 video in your life; the professional makeup artist has over 3 million subscribers and counting, and a lovably down-to-earth attitude to boot. Still, you might have heard of her collaboration with BECCA Cosmetics, in the form of the beautiful shimmery highlighter in the shade ‘Pressed Champagne Pop’. The Shimmering Skin Perfector has received glowing reviews (hehe) for being the perfect subtle shimmer to add to your cheekbones, and especially for achieving Jaclyn’s constant on-point glow. It’s a lot to drop on just a highlighter; but a worthy price to pay for feeling like a total rock star.

US$52, currently OOS

And just when you thought Jaclyn’s beautiful champagne shimmer ended there – she released a whole face palette. The limited edition Champagne Collection Face Palette features five shades of highlighter and blush to illuminate all skintones, and come in a creamy powder consistency for easy strobing. Unfortunately it’s all sold out online in the States at the moment, but look out for when it restocks officially on June 16.

KathleenLights x OFRA

L-R: Miami Fever, Havana Nights, US$19.90, available at ofracosmetics.com

We all know Kathleen Lights and her collaboration with Colourpop, but have you seen her earlier collab with OFRA Cosmetics? The brand, started by therapist and makeup artist Ofra Gaito, is most famous for its long lasting liquid lipsticks – which Kathleen herself has sworn by for their durability and comfort, long before she was contacted for a collab. It’s a short and sweet partnership, with just two shades (in Miami Fever and Havana Nights); but the brown-hued colours are beautiful and perfect for day and/or night, which is probably what the perky beauty YouTuber had in mind.

MannyMua x OFRA

US$19.90 for one, US$49.70 for set, available at ofracosmetics.com

OFRA’s certainly got their eye on top-gunning YouTubers; the second and latest collaboration pulls in Manny Gutierrez of MannyMua733 for three more liquid lipsticks in the season’s trendiest nude-mauve shades. Known for his diva-esque looks and perfectly sculpted pouts, Manny’s three OFRA shades Hypno, Aries, and Charmed have quickly become hot favourites on the site – and recently became permanent shades in the liquid lipstick line. Get them separately or in a bundle at 3 for US$35, with the code MANNYMUA to save 30% off full price. It’s also great to know that OFRA is 100% vegan and cruelty-free, so you can swipe on as much as you want without feeling guilty.

Jeffree Star x Morphe
Alternative 90’s kids might remember Jeffree Star when he was a singer-songwriter sporting daring punk-rock makeup looks on- and offstage, but everyone today knows him for his very own ace makeup line Jeffree Star Cosmetics. And with good reason – in just two years, the makeup diva’s Velour Liquid Lipsticks have taken the world by storm for their long-wearing formula and insane(ly wonderful) range of colours; perfect for anyone bored of the usual safe pinks.

Jeffree recently released an all-new, first-ever eyeshadow palette Beauty Killer, with ten bold shades in extreme pigment bound to stun; but that’s not what we’re here for. Props to him for a super successful makeup line, but really, we’re dying over the announcement of a Barbie-pink Jeffree Star collaboration with Morphe. Makeup professionals and artists alike swear by Morphe’s brushes – Jeffree included – so a fabulous, girly chrome spin on their usual black-and-white face tools is possibly the most exciting thing to happen this year. No official release date yet; all we know is to start bracing our wallets for when “Summer16” rolls around.

NikkieTutorials x Too Faced

Any regular YouTube binge-watcher will know Nikkie and her glam-queen makeup tutorials. The contour and highlight pro often raves about Too Faced makeup (so do we actually), so is it really any surprise when both parties confirmed a collaboration? News on the “exclusive kit” is still extremely hush-hush, but we’re already excited to see what’s to come this Fall. We’re expecting bronzers, dramatic shadows, and a heck ton of highlighter.

grav3yardgirl x Tarte Cosmetics

US$45, available at tartecosmetics.com

Alright, we’re playing favourites here – but we saved the best for last! Quirky and lovable Bunny from Grav3yard Girl announced, out of nowhere, a full makeup collaboration with Tarte Cosmetics – which sold out in its pre-sale just a few days ago. The collection includes two Tarteist creamy matte lip paints, but the real star of the collection is a drop-dead gorgeous eyeshadow and face palette aptly named Swamp Queen (Swamp family members will understand; hands up y’all!) Jeffree Star recently did a makeup tutorial using the palette, and Bunny herself previewed the collection on her own channel; it’s safe to say we’re already grossly in love. The shades in Swamp Queen are true to Tarte’s typical matte and shimmer tones, but with Bunny’s touch, in names that will definitely please regular viewers – Dogman, Sippy Sippy, Sassy Bun, and Gator Wings are just some of the 15 shades. The full collection will be restocked officially on the Tarte Cosmetics website on 6 June, which is just a nerve-wracking three days away. We’re anticipating a Kylie-style sold-out situation, so you might want to start setting your alarms to U.S. timing, everyone.
