Miu Miu May Have Just Called "The Pyjama Look" Next Season's It Trend

So, the 2017 Pre Spring/Summer collection from Miu Miu dropped a couple of months ago, and an ubiquitous “ready-for-bedtime” vibe was eminent throughout the series of offbeat styles. The collection may not have ventured far from Miu Miu’s usual energetic and youthful spirit towards ready-to-wear, but we’re definitely looking at a bold and refreshing switch-up, one that earns the brand the title of “true high fashion oddball”. We’re looking at a Harajuku-esque attitude of “everything that can be worn must be worn all at once” – where bejewelled hairbands are layered over hats, colourful socks worn under feathered pumps, and sequin cropped tanks over checkered shirts. Sounds like a mishmash of disastrous choices that shouldn’t work; but strangely, it did. We’ve got to hand it to Miu Miu for accomplishing such a feat which, if others had tried, would look like a 9 year old’s slumber party gone wrong.

This collection is all about the jammies; Miu Miu brought on pastel patchwork pyjama sets, colour block jackets which looked like they have been sewn up from silk quilts, a whole lot of mix-and-matching prints, and graphic sweaters. We’re immediately brought back into days of Hello Kitty pyjamas and bedsheets starring all sorts of wacky prints. The footwear is absolutely stunning, from colourful zig-zag woven platforms to red satin Mary Janes, all of which paired with equally boisterous geometric printed socks. We’d like to think that this is Miu Miu’s way of telling us to get ready for bed in style – with reflective tennis skirts and hot pink fur vests. That’s so happening for us.
