There seems to be a new hair trend cropping up every other day, with plenty of #hairgoals spotted and lusted over on Instagram. However, there’s one reigning hair trend that’s combining two of the hottest Fall hues, smokey lilac and grey, to create smokey grey ombré hair. This fresh shade features either a subtle or defined grey fade that begins with dark roots. Think Elsa from Frozen gone goth.

This new coloured look is one that’s pretty and edgy in equal measure. The huge bonus? It complements literally every skin tone in the spectrum. Doesn’t matter what your hair texture is, too. It’ll look great on those with straight, curly, frizzy, or sleek hair. And thanks to its ombré style, it has a relaxed and easy-to-wear effect. So, if you’re feeling a little bored of your current hair situation and seek some hair-spiration, then this new trend is here in the nick of time.

Needless to say, if your hair is naturally dark, this look will be a little easier to achieve. So, if you’ve got lighter coloured hair, you’ll have to darken up your base before you start the process. The smokey grey ombré look is all about getting that platinum blonde hair and dyeing the lightest strands grey. You can also choose to put in as little or as many highlights as you please, which depends on how much grey you’d like to see in your hair. This subtle and frosty hair dye can be quite harsh on your strands, so remember to use a hair-strengthening treatment that will help protect your hair against too much damage.
