Knowing how Singaporeans love anything cute and social media-worthy, it was just a matter of time before this happened. Gudetama – already a foodie cult entity in Hong Kong – will have his own themed café opening up at Suntec City by the end of November.
The news was confirmed by a newly created Instagram account for the café on Sunday evening (Oct 16). Local food stylist and blogger Shirley Wong aka Little Miss Bento announced on Facebook that she will be the brains behind styling the dishes and co-creating the menu.
Hello Singapore, mark your calendars! We are opening very soon. Watch this space for more updates! #gudetamacafesg #eggcitingtimes @sunteccity . . . . . #sgcafe #sgcafes #sgfoodies #sgfood #cafehopping #cafehoppingsg #cafesg #sgfooddiary #instafoodsg #igsg #burpple #hungrygowhere #8dayseat #8dayseatout #whati8today #eatoutsg #openricesg #sgcafefood #gudetama #sanrio #ngpeats #visitsingapore #travelmadedifferent
In a move that’ll definitely excite fans of the immensely popular Sanrio character, the café will serve a hearty range of comfort food – namely, eggs, toast, sausage and bacon, waffles in a pan, and coffee. It’s the perfect way to showcase Gudetama – a sluggish, apathetic, complaining egg that always wants to nestle under his blanket of bacon.
Here’s hoping that Singapore’s Gudetama Café will also serve stuff like this:
Today is the day… #gudetama has officially taken over @Eggsnthingshi! Stop by any of their three locations in Hawaii to taste the delicious "sleepy" and "lazy" menu. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Japan Society's Kumamoto Relief Fund for the victims of the latest earthquake in Japan. See you there! #GudetamaNThings
Stay tuned for updates!
