Paul Smith adds a sentimental touch to its Spring/Summer 2017 collection with a symbolic incorporation of floral garlands as a means of friendship and compassion into the designs of the garments. The photographic floral prints which are key to the designer’s legacy appear hand-drawn or woven into the fabrications, setting in stone Paul Smith’s reputation as a nifty craftsman. Every fragment of the flower is accompanied by familiar tropes such as sharp tailoring in wacky, neon hues and fluid silhouettes. The meadow of a collection seemed to encapsulate the designer’s heart fully, elevating the feeling of succulence and summer-time leisure in simplistic yet artistic pieces. The casual clothes emulate what could only be described as a “mellowed sense of vibrancy”, subduing bright crayon scribbles of florals against black and utilising a palette of beautiful muted pastels. Balance was key in this ethereal but never overly feminine capsule of wild, elegant ease.

Casual of sandals and espadrilles are prettified with #PaulSmith’s new Artist Stripe. #PaulSmithSS17 #LFW #Footwear
