See The Sunset-Inspired Hair That Just Brought Hair Contouring To A Whole New Level

We’ve spoken about hair contouring before, and just like how contouring techniques works for anywhere else, it’s all about manipulating light and shadows to present the best possible version of yourself.
We also love to spend plenty of time creeping on Instagram to find the most gorgeous hair colour inspo out there (hashtags never came in more useful), and we’ve found a new hair-related hashtag you might want to start keeping a close watch on: #ecliptingcolor.
Started by Aveda, “eclipting” refers to the technique of using contrasting hair colours to light up the face in the most flattering way possible, taking into consideration the individual’s face shape and features, of course. It’s essentially the same as hair contouring, but when Aveda worked with New York style blogger Luanna Perez-Garreaud, of the website Le Happy, to showcase Eclipting, they definitely brought it to a whole new level.

Prior to the hair colour session, Perez-Garreaud already sported bold, bright red hair that faded off to a bleached blonde towards the ends, a classic reverse ombré. But after the colourist had worked his magic, boosting the vibrancy of the red on top, lightening her blonde ends and adding more orange tones. Overall, the greater contrast between the colours helped add so much more life to her ‘do, bringing out her features better as well.

While Perez-Garreaud’s hair makeover is gorgeous, the colours she sports are admittedly kinda bold for the most of us. But that doesn’t mean you can’t get your hairstylist to apply the same techniques at your next hair colour refresh, albeit with less dramatic shades. In the meantime, keep a close watch on all #eclipting-related hashtags – we’re sure there’ll be plenty of hair inspo popping up pretty soon.
