You know those crazy things that you probably shouldn’t do but you go ahead with anyway? Yeah, this is definitely one of them.

Airbnb is now offering two lucky guests a chance to stay at the Bran Castle in Transylvania, Romania – a terribly spooky medieval fortress, and the inspiration behind Count Dracula’s residence in Bram Stoker’s classic 19th century horror novel.

Bran Castle, Dracula's castle, in fog, Transylvania.

Forget the fictional vampire dude though.

This ancient building is famed for its link with 15th-century prince Vlad Dracul, aka Vlad The Impaler, a barbaric ruler who had a penchant for torture and mutilation. If that still doesn’t give you the heebie-jeebies, some historians believe that Dracul might have been imprisoned in the castle for a short period of time.

Nevertheless, if you’ve got the guts for this, we say go for the glory. To enter the competition, just write a short snippet on what you would say if you find yourself face-to-face with Count Dracula himself.

Winners will be brought to the castle by horse-carriage, and will meet with Dacre Stoker, the great-nephew of Bram Stoker, and a self-confessed “vampire expert”. He’ll give you a tour around the grounds of the castle, before letting you enjoy a blood-thirsty, meaty banquet. Beds will come in the form of giant, velvety coffins, while guests are barred from bringing along “garlic-scented items” or “holy symbols”.
