We’re most definitely not talking about Kylie Lip Kits or ColourPops here, mind you. Instead, another internet beauty brand that has been getting a lot of attention from the beauty aficionados, but not in the explosive, all-over-Instagram way that the first two brands have.

You’ve probably heard of Glossier, the cool-girl beauty brand that branched out from popular beauty editorial site Into The Gloss. They’re all about natural – and again, not in the “I call this a no-makeup look but I’ve actually used 50 products on my face” kind of way – because they walk the talk with skincare and makeup that really let your real skin shine through.

Glossier began with a basic skincare line plus one lightweight tinted moisturiser, and soon followed up with more makeup in the form of a brow tint, concealer, and for a while, some really rad limited edition coloured liner. Then came the really exciting stuff: the Generation G Matte Lipstick.

Packaged in a straightforward white tube with the Glossier branding in black, these lipsticks look like balms, and promise the colour payoff of a stain. Which means the shades go on sheer, to achieve that lived-in colour that we usually have to carefully blot to achieve. Like the rest of their products, the Generation G is meant to complement a wide range of skin tones, and keep lips looking like real lips, except with some subtle colour enhancement.

Glossier just dropped their two newest shades, Zip, a poppy red, and Leo, a rich cocoa, yesterday, expanding the shade range to six; and as expected, Glossier fans all over the world freaked out upon the brand making the announcement on Instagram.

It just shows that at the end of the day, we’ll always need natural lip colours in our arsenal, as much as we always make room for the super bright or dark shades. Shoutout to Glossier for truly getting natural beauty right – now, ship internationally please?
