Meet The Mulberry Hopton, The Bag To Desire This Season

Mulberry has proven to be pretty good at making bags that we’ve come to see as officewear staples – see: the Bayswater bag that has become so ubiquitous in the CBD – and the new Hopton bag for Spring ’17 fits that description, but has a very different aesthetic indeed from the Mulberry bags we’ve been familiar with thus far.

Maybe it’s thanks to the fresh air Creative Director Johnny Coca has been breathing into the brand since taking over in 2015, but we’re really digging this new look. The Hopton is designed to be a “statement day bag”, with plenty of room inside and a standout cubic silhouette on the outside, further emphasised by the contrast piping.
The Hopton measures 35cm in width, 23.5cm in height and 15cm in depth (told you it’s a roomy bag), so rest assured all your documents and daily essentials will fit right in, with space to spare. It has one main zipped compartment plus one internal slip pocket, with a suede lining and an adjustable leather shoulder strap.

What we like best are the Hopton’s colourways, though. Out of the eight variations, some come with multicoloured panels in slightly retro colour combinations such as a Dune, Oxblood, Black & Blue (our personal favourite), or Black, Orange, Chalk & Crimson. There are also single-colour options in classic shades like black, clay or the slightly more adventurous bright orange. If you’re partial to patterns, you can choose the red and midnight blue version with the handpainted snakeskin pattern, or the black and oxblood with the zebra-print haircalf.
