Why This Gold Lipstick Might Just Become Your New Makeup Staple

We have to admit that the metallic lip still isn’t a beauty trend we’ve been able to get on board with, despite the brands giving us so many options in terms of metallic shades to try. These colours are undeniably gorgeous, but we just don’t know how to translate them into everyday wear without attracting too much attention; take for example this NYX Cosmic Metals Lip Cream in a gorgeous rose gold hue that we’ve holding on to, but not really daring to slick on.
And just when we were about to resign ourselves to the possibility that we’ll never get to wear a metallic lip, L’Oréal Makeup Designer Paris changes that with the newest Color Riche lipstick launch. We’re already familiar with the Star Collection range with shades that come inspired by some of entertainment’s biggest female names; now they’ve been updated with a touch of gold, to make up the Color Riche 24k Gold Star Collection.

The six shades in the range bear subtle metallic shades, thanks to the infusion of 24k gold pigments in the formula; it starts from a mauve-y Nude Gold and goes up to a brick-hued crimson named Mocha Gold. But the one you really need to sit up and take notice of is the shade named Le Gold, a full-on yellow gold. Worn alone, it coats the lips in a nice glossy layer of gold – which might be a look that’s still a tad too daring for many of us, but it’s the other ideas that L’Oréal has given us as to how to use this colour that’s got us excited.
First of all, the classic ombré lip, but with a metallic update by layering the Le Gold over another lip colour on the centre of the lips. If not, wear it as a top coat: just see how gorgeous it looks applied over the other shades in the collection.

It’s a whole lot more than a lipstick too, functioning as a cream eyeshadow and highlighter – just apply the lipstick bullet straight onto the eyelids or cheekbones, then blend.

The Le Gold’s the one limited edition shade of the range, by the way, so you’ll want to grab it once you spot it – we hear there aren’t that many pieces stocked in the stores.
