You Won't Believe How Thin LG's New Television Is

Quick, look around you right now. How many things in the vicinity are more than 2.57 millimetres thick? We’re going to go on a limb here and say that the answer to that question is “a lot”, which is why LG’s new ultra-thin television is a sign that the future has truly arrived.

Revealed at the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017, LG’s new Signature OLED TV W is thinner than an iPhone 7 (2.76 times thinner, to be exact), and weighs just seven kilograms. This means that it’s actually too slim to be placed on stand, but then again, why would you want to? The television features a magnetic mounting system that facilitates effortless installation on walls, and it’s so flat that it’ll look like it was built into the house itself.

If you’re thinking that the ultra-thin form factor would lead to a trade-off in performance, initial reports at CES have compared it favourably to the critically acclaimed B6 OLED TV. And given LG’s track record in the past few years, we wouldn’t be worried.
While a release date hasn’t been revealed yet, we do know that the LG Signature OLED TV W will be available in 65 and 77-inch sizes. Based on previous OLED TV launch prices, however, we wouldn’t recommend selling your current television unless you have some major expendable income.
