Meet Chanel's Newest Creation – The Gabrielle Bag

Ask any self-respecting fashionista to list the who’s who of the fashion world, and Karl Lagerfeld’s name will always be mentioned. For more than 30 years, the iconic designer has been keeping Chanel relevant with his bold, yet chic designs, and has once again turned heads at the Chanel Spring-Summer 2017 Ready-to-Wear runway show with his latest creation — the Gabrielle bag.

Named after the luxury brand’s founder (more commonly known as Coco Chanel), the Gabrielle bag’s design draws inspiration from, strangely enough, augmented reality glasses to embody the futuristic spirit of the Spring-Summer collection. Crafted from Chanel’s signature aged calfskin and fitted on a rigid thermoformed base, the bag is the perfect combination of light and supple, and the contrasting structure makes navigating through the bag a breeze. The bag also features a luxurious adjustable strap — interlaced with leather in both gold and silver — that allows it to be worn in three different ways. Talk about versatility.

The Gabrielle bag comes in three formats — a backpack, a large shopper, and a supple purse — and is available in both unicolour (black or white) and bicolor (black/white, navy/black, beige/black) versions. With this many choices to choose from, there’s bound to be a bag for every style, and we wouldn’t be surprised if we start seeing a lot more of these on the streets in the coming months.
