Calling All Minimalists: Muji Is Opening Its First Hotel In Tokyo

If we’re going to be really honest here — we truly haven’t found anyone who doesn’t like Muji. How can you though? Stepping into a Muji outlet instantly calms your nerves — it might be the gentle jingle of Japanese folk music on loop, or perhaps the very minimalist and aesthetically pleasing household items that are on display. Either way, it’s hard to leave the store empty-handed. Even getting a bottle of $1.90 Muji milk tea beats walking out with nothing. (And the sleek silver bottle can be recycled, too.)

【マロニエ×並木 読売銀座プロジェクト】「無印良品」世界旗艦店、日本初「（仮称）MUJI HOTEL」が2019年春開業予定 [Marronnier & Namiki Yomiuri Ginza Project] MUJI Global Flagship Store and MUJI HOTEL (tentative) to open in Spring 2019 古くからブランドショップが集まる並木通りに面し、銀座有数の賑わいを誇る銀座マロニエ通りに近接する本ビルは、商業施設「MARRONNIER GATE GINZA（マロニエゲート銀座）」を展開する読売新聞の新しい施設となります。地下3階、地上10階建てで、地下1階～6階一部が店舗、6階一部から10階がホテルとなります。店舗部分には良品計画が運営する「無印良品」の世界旗艦店が出店します。また、ホテル部分には日本で初めての展開となる「（仮称）MUJI HOTEL」が入居します。「（仮称）MUJI HOTEL」は、良品計画がコンセプトの提供及び内装デザインを監修し、無印良品の家具やアメニティグッズを揃えます。ホテルの設計・運営はUDSが行います（画像提供 三井不動産株式会社）。 Located on the face of Namiki street (long-time famous street for high-end brands) and nearby Ginza Marronnier street (one of the most popular shopping destinations in Ginza), the Yomiuri Shimbun will add another attraction to the area together with their existing MARRONNIER GATE GINZA. The building under construction is ten floors above ground and three floors below. Stores will be located from the first basement to sixth floor and a hotel from sixth to tenth floor. The plan includes Ryohin Keikaku's MUJI global flagship store and the first MUJI HOTEL (tentative) in Japan. Regarding MUJI HOTEL (tentative), Ryohin Keikaku will provide the total concept and interior design including the supply of furniture and amenity goods, while the rest of the designing and operation will be done by UDS.​ #muji #無印良品 #無印 #ginza #銀座

But for the eager beavers who can’t wait to see their furniture bits come together (slowly), there’s finally a chance where you can get to sleep right smack in a room thats created and endorsed by none other than Muji themselves. Why, don’t take our word for it — take Muji’s — and their very exciting announcement of the opening of a Muji Hotel in Tokyo’s popular shopping district, Ginza. An ace location for locals and tourists alike to unwind after a day’s worth of shopping, the hotel will consist of 13 stories; which, may we say, is truly taking minimalism to a new level.
All furniture and design concepts will be courtesy of Muji, so you can look forward to snoozing in a thoughtfully-decorated interior. The hotel is set to open in Spring 2019, and will also house Muji’s global flagship store. Better start saving up those pennies now!
