Get Kaia Gerber's CHANEL Ready-To-Wear FW 18/19 Runway Makeup Look

Trust CHANEL to turn the Grand Palais into an actual forest. For its recent Ready-To-Wear FW 18/19 show in Paris last week, the iconic venue was awash with damp leaves, logs, and major Autumnal feels. To match the brown and orangey hues of the fallen leaves and the dark misty forest, the models sported a minimal makeup look, accented by warm tones swiped over their lids and a gold highlight across the cheekbones.

Although meant for the runway, the look is so approachable and natural that it’s perfect for everyday-wear as well! Some minimal makeup looks may seem deceivingly easy but we assure you that this is as simple as it looks. To prove it to you, we have prepared a quick and easy 5-part tutorial, so carry on reading if you’d like to find out how to recreate this effortless look.

Step 1. Base

After you’ve done your usual skincare routine (well-prepped skin is essential for effortless makeup application!), grab your favourite lightweight foundation and apply using a foundation brush. Then, using a concealer brush for precision, conceal your blemishes for a flawless base.

Step 2. Eyebrows

We can never leave out brows when we do our makeup but it’s easy to go overboard if you’re not careful. We recommend following the natural shape of your brow and using short light handed strokes as you fill in your brows. For a more natural look, stick to powder or a pencil instead of using a brow pomade. Now, just brush up your brows with some brow gel to keep them in place for a neat and natural brow look.
If you already have fairly thick brows, you can skip the filling in and just lock your brow hairs in place with a tinted or clear gel to neaten them up for the ultimate natural brow look.

Step 3. Eyes

Eyeshadow can be a nightmare, especially when it comes to dark colours but this look requires minimal effort. Swipe a chestnut brown shade all over your lids and blend away to soften the edges. Then, lightly apply a golden shimmery shade on the middle portion of your lids and blend the edges again for a seamless transition between the shades. Skip the eyeliner and grab your favourite mascara and your eye look is complete!

4. Cheeks

For this Autumnal look, opt for something more muted and warm for your cheeks to match the warm tones of the eye look. Instead of applying your blush on the apples of your cheeks, start by applying near the temples and blend the product inwards, towards the outer corner of your eye and along your cheekbones. Then dust the high points of your cheeks with some soft gold highlighter and extend it to your temples for an extra warm glow.

Finish off the whole look with a natural pink lip colour and you’re all set to go! Remember to apply some lip balm for soft pillowy lips and a flawless finish.
