The Deadpool 2 Trailer Is Finally Here! And More Superhero Movies In 2018

Marvel’s most sarcastic anti-hero with a no-f**cks-given attitude is returning to cinemas this May and fans have been counting the days till they see Deadpool on the big screen again. To quench their thirst for some action, 20th Century Fox gifted Deadpool fans with the best present, yesterday – the official trailer for Deadpool 2!
The hefty 2 minutes 39 second trailer is as comical, vulgar and action-packed as its predecessor. Ryan Reynolds reprises his role as the hyperaware anti-hero who takes on the villain Cable, played by Josh Brolin. Angsty teen Negasonic Teenage Warhead (played by Brianna Hildebrand) and Colossus (played by Stefan Kapicic) join Deadpool’s X-Force, which is made up of students from Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters and, of course, Deadpool, himself.
There is nothing like a good ol’ trailer to get you hyped about the movie so let’s not waste time describing the trailer to you when we could just show it.

Deadpool 2 will be showing in our local cinemas from 31 May! Deadpool isn’t the only superhero movie coming out this year. We would never want to miss out on a superhero movie, especially when they’re part of the same universe, so here’s a list of Marvel/DC movies showing in 2018:

Avengers: Infinity War

Release date: 26 April 2018
Directed by Anthony Russo and John Russo
Cast: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Josh Brolin, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chris Pratt, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Rudd, Tom Holland, Elizabeth Olsen, Zoe Saldana, Mark Ruffalo, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, Karen Gillian, Vin Diesel, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Mackie, Letitia Wright

Avengers is a must-watch series for any Marvel comic fan. Not only does it tie together the various plots from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, to spectacular effect might we add, the series also follows a major cross-world event from the comics. Infinity War unites the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy and other Marvel superheroes, like Doctor Strange, against Thanos, who wants to collect all 6 Infinity Stones to destroy the world and impress Death. You’ve already seen some of these powerful objects lying around, whether it’s Doctor Strange’s Eye of Agamotto (Time Stone), the purple Power Stone in Guardians, or Vision himself — so expect some major power struggle.
If the plethora of superheroes in a single plot isn’t enough to get you excited about the movie, Robert Downey Jr. (aka Iron Man) and Benedict Cumberbatch (aka Dr. Strange) will be making their way to Singapore to for the red carpet event at Marina Bay Sands, on 16 April.

Ant-Man and The Wasp

Release date: 5 July 2018
Directed by Peyton Reed
Cast: Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, Michael Peña, Hannah John-Kamen

He’s not your traditional superhero but Ant-Man is definitely not someone to be taken lightly. The plot is set after the events of Captain America: Civil War, where Hope Van Dyne becomes Ant-Man’s partner as she takes on the role of The Wasp. Don’t be mistaken Van Dyne is no side-kick in this movie. In fact, Forbes calls this Marvel’s first female-led superhero movie, by default.

VENOM

Release date: 4 October 2018
Directed by Ruben Fleischer
Cast: Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Woody Harrelson

Venom Symbiote, one of the most notorious villains from The Amazing Spider-Man comics gets its own movie which screens this October. The plot follows Eddie Brock (played by Tom Hardy) the second host of the alien Symbiote and the arch-nemesis of Spider Man. Unfortunately, there have been rumours that the full-suited Venom won’t even make an appearance until the last few minutes of the movie. According to Jeremy Conrad, former editor at IGN, the movie will, instead, focus on the manifestation of the Symbiote in Brock’s veins and muscles, showing his struggle and transition into Venom.
Whatever the plot is, we will only find out the truth after its releases, so for now, let’s just enjoy the VENOM trailer in anticipation for the movie.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix

Release date: 1 November
Directed by Simon Kinberg
Cast: Sophie Turner, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Nicholas Hoult, Olivia Munn, Kodi Shit-McPhee, Evan Peters, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp

Intended to be the first instalment of a new trilogy, Dark Phoenix will take on the legendary story of Jean Grey’s dark side. The phoenix first made its appearance in X-Men: The Last Stand to some pretty disappointing reviews. Hopefully, X-Men fans will develop a liking for this new one, although the plot isn’t going to follow the comics so it’s already at a disadvantage. Nevertheless, we should give the movie a fair shot and wait until we’ve watched it before sharing our thoughts. We know that this movie will take the X-Men to space and feature Hans Zimmer’s compositions (he came out of superhero movie retirement to compose the score!) so we’re definitely anticipating the release of X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
There haven’t been official trailers or trailer teasers for X-Men: Dark Phoenix yet, but some stills from the movie have been released on Entertainmentweekly.com.

Aquaman

Release date: late December 2018
Directed by James Wan
Cast: Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, William Dafoe, Nicole Kidman, Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Temuera Morrison, Dolph Lundgren

If you’re charged up from watching Wonder Woman and Justice League last year, you’ll have to catch Aquaman. The DC hero is played by the manly Jason Momoa, better known for his role of Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones, giving a new take on the originally silly character. The movie was initially set to be released in July, then pushed to October and now, December, so we’re crossing our fingers and hoping that there will be no more delays because we can’t wait to see Momoa rising up from the water.
An official trailer for the movie hasn’t been released yet but he has a special trailer from Justice League. We have no choice but to be contented with that while we wait for the official trailer to be released.
