This Singapore Startup Offers Homemade Cocktails for People Who Hate Going Out to Drink

Let’s face it. The rite of passage for any young, party-loving Singaporean is to go to Zouk, drink two dozen sour plum shots, followed by a drunken prata eating session, and a taxi ride home debating politics with taxi drivers. A few years later, it’s on to fancy cocktail bars, or coffee shops if you don’t give a damn about hanging around with old uncles.
And that’s for people who actually like going out. There exists a special breed of human beings that shudder at the thought of leaving their homes to spend atrocious amounts of money, or gasp, to socialise. It’s not as if these people don’t like fun. They do. They’d just rather make their own drinks and binge-watch Netflix alone.

That’s where Sunday Punch comes in.
The Singapore start-up, helmed by former men’s magazine editor Mark Tay and his partner Yap Hwee Jen – both of whom have extensive experience in the media industry, specialises in pre-made cocktails that are perfect for people who prefer to hang out in their home, or for cocktail lovers too lazy to make their own drinks.
Here are some highlights from the menu that haven’t sold out already:

Sunday Punch’s formula is one that seems to work. Besides making the drinks list in Singapore Airlines’ first and business class sections, Sunday Punch also brewed the festival-exclusive cocktail at the Singapore Food Festival (it’s the East Side).
Each wax-sealed 500ml cocktail is slapped with a hipster-ish hand-sketched label that displays the drink’s ingredients, so you’ll always know what’s in your choice of poison. One bottle packs eight to 10 solid servings of drink, so unless you want to go hardcore and down it all in one shot, taking things slow is probably wiser.

Drinking a single bottle is also much cheaper than heading out to a bar of course.
At the end of the day though, it’s all about the flavour, and we’ve got to say, everything we tried was pretty damn tasty. If you’d like to check out their full catalogue, you can head here. Who knows, you may never leave your house to drink at a bar again.
