Turn Up The Heat With Sweet Heat Skittles

We’re all familiar with the combination of sweet and sour, but sweet and spicy? Hmmm, we need to give that one more thought. Maybe we’d be able to make a better decision if we tried the latter
We’re in luck. Last May, Skittles announced its newest flavour, Sweet Heat Skittles, and it has finally hit the shelves! Asians are known to love spicy food, including those of us in the NYLON office (albeit a couple of friends who need to gulp down a pitcher of water after a mouth of kimchi-flavoured instant noodles) so we’re excited to give these confectionery treats a try.

Coming in a mix of sweet and spicy, the fruity flavours include Blazin’ Mango, Fiery Watermelon, Flamin’ Orange, Lemon Spark, and Sizzlin’ Strawberry. The flavours sound great sans the spicy vocabulary but we haven’t totally ruled out these Skittles. If anything, they just made us even more curious about the flavour combination.
Since we’re still undecided about Skittles’ new flavour, we decided to look for reviews on the trust Internet but these were mixed as well.
Some reviews were fairly objective:

And some of them thoroughly enjoyed the new flavour:

However, some were pretty brutal:

Looking at the mixed reviews, the only way to find out if this is yay or nay is to try it ourselves so we have to wait for these sweet and spicy treats to appear on our local shelves. FYI, there’s also a Starburst version and reviews say it’s more spicy than the Skittles so maybe we should skip to that one, instead. What the heck, we’ll probably try both.
