Did Emily Blunt Tease More "Devil Wears Prada" Films?

Anna Wintour is reported to step down from American Vogue next year. The upcoming Sex and the City sequel won’t be the same without Miranda. Clearly, however, the “crashing” of two huge institutions which heydays were in the early 2000’s isn’t enough to kill hollywood sweetheart Emily Blunt’s excitement for a potential The Devil Wears Prada sequel and/or spinoff film.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Blunt admitted, “I mean if everyone wanted to do it, it would be cool… I’d be down.” She echoed this sentiment on Late Night With Seth Meyers [skip to 2:00], where she jokingly called Meryl Streep a “STALKER” for being in so many films together, including The Devil Wears Prada. To the question if another Devil Wears Prada movie could happen, Blunt answered, “I mean, I would love it,” cueing the audience to burst into applause. One of Blunt’s co-stars in the movie, Stanley Tucci, also become her brother-in-law in 2011 after marrying her sister.

Sounds promising, right? If Blunt’s statements about making another Devil Wears Prada movie happen are true, there’re two ways this could happen, based on the books written by author Lauren Weisberger.

The Sequel, Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns

If there’s anything worse than NOT enjoying a good sequel to one of our favourite films OF ALL TIME, it’s having that sequel be a real stinker. We haven’t had the chance to dive into this beach-read yet, but The Daily Beast gave it a pretty scathing review, even spoiling some of the “good” bits of the book.

Andy Sachs, played by Anne Hathaway in the original film, is a decade into her career as the now editor of a bridal magazine, Happily Ever After. That gives us a pretty good idea what kind of literary genius we’re getting into with the sequel. Working closely with her frenemy-turned-girlfriend Emily Charlton, Blunt’s character, Andy continues exploring the treacherous territory of the New York publication business. There’re a ton of comedic opportunities between the two, not forgetting the subtitle of the novel “The Devil Returns,” so we can expect another hauntingly spectacular Miranda Priestly entry.

The Spinoff, When Life Gives You Lululemons

We’re guessing Blunt would be more keen on working on the spinoff, since she’d be playing the main character. Even if Emily Charlton was a “sidekick” to Andy Sachs’ storyline, we all can relate to her determination to show her best self, only to be upstaged by a journalist who knows nothing about the industry she’s in.
In When Life Gives You Lululemons, Emily works as a high-profile “image consultant” to celebrities, only to be thrown to the suburbs to work on Karolina Hartwell, a supermodel and politician’s wife, who’s trying to regain visibility after a DUI. The book releases June 2018, but we have excerpts of a phone conversation between Emily and a celebrity manager, in the opening chapter, from Her:

Either way, we’re super excited for a potential Devil Wears Prada sequel/spinoff. Blunt also stars in A Quiet Place, out in cinemas now.
