Us, Singaporeans, don’t get to enjoy 4 seasons but we still get a hint of it thanks to a sprinkling of seasonal menus. Our tropical Summer weather gives us the perfect excuse to order a sweet, cooling and refreshing Frappucino from the coffee franchise. Starbucks is known for it’s seasonal drinks, like its famous Christmas drinks and Pumpkin Spice Latte, and this Summer, and it’s pushing out 2 new Frappucinos for us to combat the sticky Summer heat.
The Green Tea Cheesecake Cream Frappucino brings together the creamy cheesecake blend with the earthy rich green tea for a well-balanced Japanese matcha drink. It’s topped off with a swirl of whipped cream and a sprinkling of green tea cookies for extra sweetness, creaminess and crunch.

Starbucks also created a coffee-chocolate Frappucino for cocoa lovers. Named Midnight Mint Mocha, black cocoa powder is infused into the Starbucks’ coffee and blitzed with java chip and mint for a refreshing drink with a satisfying crunch. Sandwiched between the chocolatey blend is a fluffy layer of whipped cream. Some of us have a tendency to leave out the whipped cream but we’ve worked hard for our Summer bodies so why not indulge ourselves a little? Top off your drink with another layer of whipped cream and dusted with black cocoa powder to finish off this chocolate-lover’s dream.

Our 365-long Summer also provides us with the perfect picnic weather (if we aren’t showered with a tropical thunderstorm). Slap on some sunscreen, pack your picnic mat and find an open area for a relaxing Summer picnic. Too lazy to prepare food? Not to fret, Starbucks’ new food items will become your go-to picnic snacks, from now on.
Indulge in the new Oriental Smoked Duck Sandwich – black pepper smoked duck slices contrasted with spicy apricot chutney and fresh and crisp carrots and coral lettuce, sandwiched between tasty black sandwich bread for a flavour symphony in your mouth.

Considering that we have already indulged ourselves with the Frappucinos, perhaps we would should opt for more healthy picnic snacks. Life is all about balance, isn’t it?
Starbucks has brought out delicious hearty salad bowls that will satisfy our stomachs without the guilt. Savour a bowl of soba noodles tossed in sesame sauce with tender roasted chicken or dive into a toss up of succulent Cajun prawns, earthy barley, sweet potato, broccoli and cauliflower in a spicy Cajun dressing.
There’s also a refreshing option of crisp carrots, zucchini, sweet raisins, sour sun-dried tomatoes mixed into a hearty bowl of quinoa with a zinging lemon dressing. Tender roast chicken tops the salad for a savoury touch to finish off this taste relay.

Starbucks is also offering healthy finger food for our picnics, like veggie sticks with Ranch dressing and savoury and delightful Siracha chicken in a whole wheat pita.

When we talk about Starbucks, we also can’t leave out their collectable tumblers. It’s launching bold colourful tumblers to reflect the energy of Summer. Most of the tumblers are a solid colour, except for the Bloom line which feature, you guessed it, graphic blooming flowers wrapped around the sleek exteriors for a stylish bottle.
The tumblers also come with a reusable straw so you can protect our Earth while staying hydrated!

Summer is the season for us because it’s our only season in Singapore (other than the 1-week Winter at the start of the year) but that doesn’t mean that we can’t enjoy it any less. You’ll definitely be seeing us out with our picnic mats, armed with a couple of new items from Starbucks’ menu for our lovely Summer picnic.
