Stay, Dine and Discover A Whole New Side Of Chinatown At Ann Siang House

When people think of Singapore, the word “food” comes to mind almost instantly. Thanks to our multi-racial culture, we are blessed with a diverse range of local food. We also have high quality international food, brought in by world-renowned chefs and immigrants who share a bit of their home country with us through food. This results in many self-proclaimed foodies who enjoy finding the best of the best, no matter what the dish is. We’re sure we all have a few friends who will travel across the island and queue for at least 45 minutes for a simple plate of chicken rice.
After indulging ourselves with food, there will be the dreaded food coma. And we know that the best way to tackle a food coma is to sleep it off. Well, if you are just as much a foodie as we are, you should definitely check out Ann Siang House, nestled in the corner of Ann Siang Road. It is the latest addition to 8M Real Estate’s conservation properties, restored from a row of iconic 1920s shophouses to a new modern-styled accommodation for short and extended-term city stays.

The restored 20-guest room accommodation is located in the historically and culturally-rich Chinatown enclave, a well-balanced blend of past, present and future in one place. With the philosophy of “Stay, Dine, Discover”, you can be certain that the team at 8M has ensured that guests at Ann Siang House have access to a curated range of innovative dining concepts with scrumptious menu items within the accommodation, itself. This ultimate foodies’ accommodation houses 4 exceptional F&B options that are sure to blow your socks off.

Blue Label Pizza and Wine

Interior 2

Opened late last year by the team behind oyster and steakhouse institution Luke’s, Blue Label is the go-to place for a laid-back evening for a gathering or a causal date. The cosy interior, finished off with warm wood panelling and cosy banquettes complements the simple yet sophisticated menu. It features shareable snacks, innovative stone-fired pizzas and a unique selection of wines.

Enjoying a Meal

We recommend The Umami Bomb which has a cornmeal crust topped with shiitake mushrooms, spinach, lemon, anchovies and goat cheese for a powerful relay of flavours that make it a stand-out pizza. If you love your protein, the J-Dog, topped with bacon, pepperoni and pork sausages is the pizza for you.
Although Blue Label just opened its doors a few months ago, it has already built a loyal following of foodies so you know that this place is legit.

Blue Label Fries

Blue Label operating hours:

The ground floor pop-up spaces of Ann Siang House are also dedicated both local and international up-and-coming F&B stars. Currently, there are 3 pop-ups for curious and adventurous food lovers.

Perbacco

Perbacco 1

Named after Bacchus, the Roman god of wine and a good time, Perbacco is an elegant restaurant and bar that serves up authentic and comforting Italian dishes. Instead of the usual pasta and pizzas, they’re serving up less-known wholesome Northern specialties from Venice’s neighbouring city, Treviso. Have a taste of some pan-seared octopus with a warm potato and onion salad or opt for a delicious veal Ossobuco with mash potato. The restaurant also has a divine global selection of the finest wines to pair with your meal. The Italians are known to be generous when it comes to food, so you’re sure to be well-fed, in terms of both quality and quantity, at Perbacco.
Perbacco operating hours:
Monday to Friday: 12pm – 2.30pm, 6pm – 11.30pm
Saturday: 6pm – 11.30pm
Sunday: Closed

The Guild

The Guild 1

The passionate team at Young Master Brewery in Hong Kong has taken over the space at Ann Siang House to bring their quality naturally-brewed craft beers to our shores. The Guild is the result of its debut Singapore concept, dedicated to bringing us a eclectic range of innovative craft beers, all-natural wines and a solid cocktail offering.

The Guild 2

The team prides themselves on fresh ingredients, locally-sourced produce and the authenticity in making everything by hand, offering local flavours with a twist. The pop-up will have great deals on their Award-Winning Signature Young Master Classic Ale and gourmet bar snacks such as Salt & Vinegar Fries, Pig’s Head Terrine with cured vegetables and the house-cured Ikan Kuning filets with Laksa leaf pesto. Don’t they sound so familiar yet so foreign at the same time?
The Guild operating hours:
Tuesday – Saturday: 5:00pm – 12:00am
Sunday – Monday: Closed
The Guild will be located at Ann Siang House until 14 April before shifting to 8M’s Keong Saik property shortly thereafter.

CULT

Cult_The Guild

Of course, what is a staycation without a lovely cup of coffee for a lazy morning? In the morning, The Guild transforms into a cosy coffee bar by the renowned roasters behind micro-café Upside Down Coffee Alternatives, located just a stone’s throw away on Amoy Street.

Cult 1

Whether you’re having a slow start to the morning or stopping by for a quick caffeine boost, CULT offers specially crafted, quality brews, starting at just $4. Our office loves coffee so we know that this is an absolute steal, especially for a coffee bar.
CULT operating hours
Daily: 7:00am – 3:00pm

Although CULT and Perbacco are staying at Ann Siang House, The Guild will move into a permanent space at 8M’s Keong Saik property in the later half the year. So, you should definitely hit up all 4 restaurants at Ann Siang House while they’re still housed in same place.

Just by the eateries alone, Ann Siang House is a must-visit for foodies. However, we did say that this is an exceptional staycation spot and here’s why we think so:
Each room will enjoy the benefits of personalised services and some even have fully-equipped kitchenettes and private balconies for those on extended stay or want a homely feel. The interior takes inspiration from the surrounding local streets and scenes to evoke a sense of nostalgia, yet is modern and comfortable – somewhat reflecting our young nation that is so modern, yet speckled with scenes from the past. The spacious rooms are larger than the average hotel rooms, decorated with large windows that fill your room with natural light, bespoke handmade furniture, eclectic artwork and bold bathtubs for a comfortable and luxurious living space.

Ann Siang House - Bedroom 6

The room is equipped with almost anything you need for a perfect night in. You can choose between a bathtub or a walk-in rain shower for a nice warm shower and then snuggle up under the cosy duvet for a whole night of Netflix or YouTube on a flatscreen Smart TV. Alternatively, you can turn on some tunes on the Tivoli Bluetooth speaker system and read a book as you wind down for the evening. Also, the complimentary mini-bar is stocked with comfort snacks and local delicacies, so you can have a late-night snack if you’re still feeling peckish after the gastronomical journey that you had earlier in the evening.

Ann Siang House - Bathroom 2

Ann Siang House is the perfect blend of everything a Singaporean ever wanted in an accommodation – great food, comfy and modern interior and a sense of rich history and culture. Who would have thought that we would get all of this in our own country? Whether you’re just heading there for a meal or planning a staycation, we highly recommend putting Ann Siang House on your list of must-go places, especially if you’re a foodie.
