If there is an award for the most popular style right now, it’d go to athleisure. Who wouldn’t love a style that is edgy, fashionable and oh-so comfortable? You can go really chic and do an all-black get up or opt for something more colourful like Daniëlle Cathari’s collaboration with adidas Originals.
The 23-year old’s latest drop with the sportswear brand is a continuation from her debut launch in February, which featured track suits in revamped modern silhouettes and cuts. Not only did Kendall Jenner endorse the young designer by fronting the campaign (she was one of the inspirations of the collection!), adidas was the one that reached out to Cathari to collaborate – and she hasn’t even graduated from design school!
With nods to the 90’s, this drop features her take on adidas Original’s classics, each with Cathari’s signature deconstructive design and use of mixed materials. The collection includes matching pieces, experimenting with the idea of uniforms and matching sets. Along with the graphic additions of the iconic Three Stripes, Cathari weaved the blues and lemon yellows with a touch of pastel baby pink through colour blocking, keeping the collection modern while sneaking in looks from the adidas archive.

The collection plays with shapes and silhouettes – waists are accentuated, tops are cropped and pants are elongated. Slouchy tracksuits are given a feminine touch: track pants are reimagined to extend way beyond the ankles or transformed into high-waisted parachute pants to experiment with proportions and paired with sexy silky satin bustier-style bra tops in matching colours. You can also mix the two looks for a more eye-catching colour combination.

We especially love the cheerful yellow sports shirt and shorts uniform that comes in a soft knit fabric with white angular details along the shoulders and hip. The singular dress in the collection also sports these angular details along the shoulders. The peachy dress comes in the form of a high neck, long-sleeved fitting sporty silhouette with asymmetric ruching details across the front.

All of the pieces are constructed with light seasonal fabrics, like satins and engineered jacquards, so you don’t have to worry about melting away in your super cute outfit, despite the long sleeves and track pants.
