The mid-year holidays are coming up and all of us are dying to go on a break, whether you’re a student or a working adult. This period is also the hottest period of the year (except for our Aussie friends) which means it’s time to gather our Summer essentials and soak up some Vitamin D. You may think that we’ve had enough of the sun (Singapore does get uncomfortably hot from time to time) but if we’re on a beach or lounging by the pool, the sun is always welcomed.
Even though we’re an urban city, we are first and foremost, a sunny tropical island. So it comes as no surprise that we have a few local swimwear brands that will take over your swimsuit collection.

Modern, stylish and modest – these are the words that come to mind when you look at the pieces by PINKSALT. This swimwear brand is the brainchild of two Singaporeans who combined their skills and knowledge in design and marketing to fuel their passion for fashion. PINKSALT has everything you need for your resort vacation. You can find one-piece suits, tankinis, dresses, rashguard sets, two-piece sets and even playsuits. Whether you want to go for a dip in the pool or just lounge by the water, these pieces are a must-have for your next visit to a resort.

If you’re a fan of minimalist designs, Delta is the brand to check out. Their designs are all solid colours, other than a Triton Bikini in a quartz print (if you’re a fan of colour, we think you’ll like it). All of the pieces are designed by the founding twin sisters and created with neoprene so that they last longer and offer coverage without the need for paddings. There aren’t a lot of designs at the moment but if you want something simple and well-made and inexpensive, this is a swimwear brand you should check out.
Left to right: Orchid V Neck One-Piece $310, Blue Corset $238, Indian Summer Halter Front Twist One-Piece $328
Although these pieces are on the pricey side, we can’t deny that the designs and prints are beautiful and extremely unique. What we love about K.BLU is that the pieces are designed and made with everyone in mind – no matter the size and shape of your body. The prints come in different cuts to flatter different body types and preferences. The local brand also designs kaftans, scarves and blouses that match your swimsuit and also delve into activewear! For those of us who love prints, there are tons of designs here that will catch our eye.
Left to right: Cebu Bikini in Cottoncandy Blue $69.90, Komea the Reversible $46, K Samui Monokini in Sangria Wine $72
Although simple, Sorakini’s designs are very modern and chic. We can just imagine ourselves lounging by the waters in these bright swimwear pieces. Almost all the pieces have adjustable straps so you can have a swimsuit that fits you perfectly. There is a great mix of two-piece sets, one-piece suits (or monokini) and even tops that were made for the perfect beach holiday. The best part? Sorakini’s pieces are extremely affordable, with most of the pieces falling within the $40 – $70 range.
Left to right: Mum’s Hibiscus Rash Vest $83, Dad’s Pineapple Swim Short $95, Girl’s Hibiscus Swimsuit $59 and Hibiscus Sun Hat $35, Boy’s Hibiscus Swim Short $59
If you’re heading on a family holiday, everyone can be matchy-matchy on the beach with Frolik’s swimwear. It may sound tacky but when you see a whole family in matching outfits, we can feel our hearts melt (and no, it’s not because of the heat). All the pieces are made with UPF 50+ fabric, which blocks out 97% of the sun’s harmful rays so that your family can safely enjoy a day out on the beach. We find the pieces really simple but the beautiful prints, patterns and colours help to create a sophisticated collection that the whole family will love.
