BEAUTY TUTORIAL: Healthy (and healthy-looking) skin with CHANEL LES BEIGES makeup

For years now, the beauty industry has been talking about the crossover between skincare and makeup; skincare products with makeup properties, or makeup with skincare benefits. At the end of the day. we all just want to achieve good-looking skin. Of course if it’s truly in a healthy state (i.e. no breakouts, no funny pigmentations…), it will naturally look good.

When Chanel first launched their original CC Cream in 2012, it professed to be a tinted cream (like a foundation, but not quite), but with skincare benefits like being hydrating and having strong sun protection. I loved it. It featured in my first book, Editing Beauty, featuring Fiona Fussi on the cover.

Today the beauty market is flooded with such hybrid products, including a whole collection from Chanel that’s inspired by healthy skin; and it’s called CHANEL LES BEIGES. Some products are dedicated makeup items (like the Multi-Colour Powders), but they all promote the concept of having the appearance of — and ultimately achieving — healthy skin.

My favourite product from the collection is the Healthy Glow Gel Touch Foundation. I wrote about it here when it first came out. I love it so much I bring it on all my trips abroad. And it’s not just me; I read on NYLON cover girl, Yoyo’s blog that she too loves this product.

The one product that I believe will become a best-seller in Singapore, is the new Les Beiges Sheer Healthy Glow Tinted Moisturizer. This one is a skincare, but with makeup results. It feels really light on the skin, and gives a lovely tint. The coverage isn’t meant to be high, so don’t expect it to cover blemishes. I think it’ll do well because Singaporeans love products that aren’t heavy and thick, but are convenient and multi-tasking (this product moisturises, has some coverage and SPF). After all, we’re always rushing around and travelling, and this little 30ml bottle is perfect for tossing in the bag and bringing everywhere.
