You Can Now Get Rare Whiskies At Southeast Asia’s First Ever Flagship Macallan Boutique

If you’ve been a huge fan of Macallan, the only place in Singapore where you could get rare Macallan bottles was DFS, and often only at the airport. Now, Right next to The Spot (yes, the place is legit called The Spot) is a brand new Macallan Boutique – the first ever boutique dedicated to the whiskey brand in Southeast Asia.

Macallan has just opened its new distillery in Easter Elchies estate in Scotland with 952 bottles of whiskey available for tasting, but we can’t all fly to Scotland on a whim, so this Macallan Boutique is your next best option.

You can start with a few tasting flights at the tasting bar, where someone from Macallan will guide you. If you look up, the wood-carved ceiling is inspired by the iconic distillery in Scotland. Like we said, this boutique is the next best thing for the full Macallan experience if you’re not visiting Scotland anytime soon.

The tasting bar

It goes without saying that you’ll be able to find rare bottles here as well – bottles that were previously only available online to Europe and UK audiences can now be bought at the Macallan Boutique. And you know that you’re not stumping up black market prices because everything at The Macallan Boutique is at retail price. Because The Macallan Boutique was brought in by 1855, 1855 members will also get discounted prices, which will come in handy for bigger purchases.

Some whiskies that you can expect to find here include the 12 Year Old bottles of Sherry Oak, Double Cask and Triple Cask Matured. The prestigious 1824 Masters Series collection can also be bought here – the Rare Cask, Reflexion, No. 6 and M specifically.

The Macallan Reflexion, $1,500

There’s also a wall dedicated to The Macallan Master’s Of Photography Series, where Macallan and renowned photographers collaborated to create a limited edition whisky.

Each collaboration is unique in how they present photography as an art with a whisky to match; celebrity portrait photographer Anne Leibovitz shot 4 portraits in New York, with 4 different single-cask whiskies paired with each photograph. Mario Testino’s whiskey comes with six miniature bottles selected from six different casks plus a commemorative photo booklet of 20 photos. Only 1,000 boxes from each collaboration is released, so here’s your chance to get a glimpse of the boxes (unfortunately, these boxes aren’t for sale).

Other than whiskies, you can also get exclusive Macallan merchandise like branded glasses, stationery and cufflinks.

The Macallan Ice Ball Maker

While we were there, we even spotted a Macallan-scented candle from Roja Parfums. Just in case you like your room filled with the musky scent of peat.

When you’re done shopping you can head over next door to The Spot for some Macallan cocktails. There’s also a secret cigar lounge where you can enjoy a cigar with your whiskey – all you have to do is just ask for the cigar lounge.

Here’s the Macallan cocktail menu:

Thyme For A Holiday is a nice, refreshing cocktail, but if you want something more complex on the tastebuds, go for the Mac And Curry. The Mac And Curry is both spicy and sweet – an interesting combination that I couldn’t decide if I loved or hated.
