Thinking Of Trying Coloured Mascaras? Here’s 3 Looks If You Need Inspiration!

Have you ever seen a model wearing coloured mascara and wanted to try it out yourself, but then worrying about whether you can pull it off? Well, I have. And to be honest, it can be pretty daunting at first. How much should I put on? Will it even look nice on me? What if I end up looking weird? Let’s just say I’ve had my doubts.

But after having tried it out myself, I don’t think that it looks ALL that bad after all. In fact, coloured mascaras can be flattering – if you choose the right combination of colours that suit you, of course. If you need some ideas to help you out, here are some looks we’ve put together for anyone who feels like giving their eye makeup a special boost!

Teal

The Look: Teal mascara, paired with a soft neutral eye for a subtle way to wear the bold shade

I know – from the name of it to the colour itself – teal can seem like a rather adventurous choice for those who are just starting out with coloured mascaras. But I assure you, it doesn’t have to be too loud or bold at all. By focusing the colour to just the outer third of your lashes, you can easily wear this bright colour without it looking too overwhelming.

Purple

The Look: Purple mascara, paired with a gold smoky eye for a night/party look

When I first swatched this on my hand, I thought it was going to be really obvious on my lashes, but surprisingly enough, it applied on subtle. In fact, it took several layers for it to show up on camera! You could easily pair this colour with any eyeshadow style – clean, smoky, or even no eyeshadow! If you want the mascara colour to show even more, tight-line your lashes with a similar colour before applying the mascara. This will make the colour pop!

Pink

The Look: Pink mascara, paired with a graphic, pastel eye and contrasting colour

Since coloured mascaras go perfectly with bolder looks, here’s a more graphic look for you to try out (even if it’s just for fun). To get a more precise wing for the colour block, use an eyeliner – in this case it was a lip liner – instead of an eyeshadow. You can take the colour block as high up as you’d like according to your own eye shape, and pair it with a contrasting colour for your bottom lash line.
