Your Guide to Looking Glam for Graduation

It’s that time of year again where we bid farewell to our fellow schoolmates and welcome a new phase in life. If you’re an undergraduate and you’re still wondering what look you should rock on your big day — well, you’re in luck because we’ve got you covered.

Something as simple as walking across the stage may sound like a no-brainer to many, but looking your best while doing so is another story for itself. We’ve included some of the beauty must-haves, including some from NYLON’s Beauty Hit Lists, to prepare yourself for the big occasion.

Bold Red Lips

Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro, $55, available at Giorgio Armani Beauty.

In a sea of black robes, your best bet of standing out from the crowd is indeed a classic bold red lip. With this number, you’ll look (and feel) ten times more confident and no doubt will you be turning heads too. We’d recommend Giorgio Armani Beauty’s Lip Maestro in the shade #400, The Red, for something loud and vibrant. It comes with a creamy consistency and with a velvet-matte finish. Best part is — it’s not even drying to the lips!

Winged Liner

CHANEL Signature De CHANEL, $52, available at CHANEL Beauty stores (Image Source)

Unsure of which eyeshadow shade to go for on the big day? Whatever it is, having a winged liner is a definite must. Be it a minimal or a bold look, there’s literally no way you can go wrong with a winged liner. It’s amazing how one stroke of the eyeliner can make your eyes pop and add a lil definition to your look. Our favourite go-to eyeliner at the moment has got to be Chanel’s Signature De CHANEL Eyeliner – it comes with a soft glides on effortlessly with an intense, satin and waterproof finish.

Here’s a closer look at how precise and intense the colour payoff the eyeliner is upon application.

Highlighter

Fenty Beuaty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duo, $50, available at Sephora.

When it comes highlighters, there’s only one thing to keep in mind — more is MORE. Think about it, its your last day! Wouldn’t you want to be at the centre of attention? The highly raved Fenty Beauty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duo is the way to go for something that’s lasting and highly pigmented. I like how this duo comes in two different shades and how it goes strikingly well with any look(and it blends really well into the skin too).

Mascara

Zoeva Graphic Lash Mascara, $19. Available at Sephora. (Image Source)

No long lashes? No eyelash extensions? No problem! The thing about mascaras is that its hard to find the right one that doesn’t smudge after a long day out in Singapore — yes the weather’s a total buzzkill and it gets worse for those with oily eyelids. Well not to worry because we’re on the same boat. For super black, glossy and volumised lashes, try ZOEVA’s Graphic Lash Mascara. It earned its spot on NYLON’s Beauty Hit List as it gives long-lasting curls and fluttery lashes for that eye-catching look.

Foundation

Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude Water Fresh Makeup SPF 30, $68. Available at Sephora. (Image Source)

Finding the right shade of foundation might be a little tricky for some, especially if you’re not an enthusiast when it comes to makeup. Nonetheless, doing a colour swatch at any outlets will do just fine. When it comes to liquid foundation, Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Nude Water Fresh Makeup Foundation wins hands down! This holy grail product is one that I swear by as it lives up to its long-lasting staying power. This liquid foundation glides on smoothly onto the skin and gives high coverage to conceal any discolourations on the skin. What’s best about this product is that it comes with SPF so its great for those who aren’t religious when it comes to applying sunscreen on a daily basis.

Brows

CHANEL Stylo Sourcils Waterproof, $59. Available at CHANEL Beauty stores. (Image Source)

It’s merely impossible to walk out of the house without having your eyebrows done — unless you’re blessed with perfect eyebrows, which of course, is no doubt a blessing! Be camera ready and line your brows with CHANEL Stylo Sourcils Waterproof Eyebrow Pencil. This eyebrow pencil scored on our Beauty Hit List for its long-lasting formula and is easy to use with its tapered tip, that allows us to draw with a thin or thick line, for more natural-looking brows. Talk about getting your eyebrows on fleek!

Contour

By Terry Sun Designer Palette, $95

Let’s be real, we all want our cheekbones to pop with our sharp jawlines when we take our pictures. Think about it, you’re going to be looking back at these pictures a few years down the road and you’ll probably want to look like the best version of yourself! Contouring can be a little tricky for some, but its no doubt a skill that’s worth learning. Try By Terry Sun Designer Palette for starters! This palette comes with 6 shades and gives a matte and satin finish that helps to sculpt and brighten your features.

Blush

NARS Orgasm Liquid Blush, $50. Available at NARS stores and Sephora (Image Source)

Afraid of loooking a lil too pale for the camera? Adding some colour to your cheeks with a blush like NARS Orgasm Liquid Blush which might just do the trick. This liquid blush is full of pigment and it comes off as a blusher and highlighter at the same time!

Zoeva Basic Moment Blush Trio Palette, $26. Available at Sephora

However if liquid blushers aren’t your thing, we’d say you try Zoeva’s Basic Moment Blush Palette. The palette comes as a trio and is a favourite for many for its highly pigmented and long-lasting formula. Besides, the last thing we want to do is to look lifeless especially on the “last day of school” — ahhh the irony.

So what better way to celebrate yet another milestone of your life than to look your best with all of these must-have looks checked!
