How to Work the Copper Rose Trend on Asian Eyes

Mastering the art of eyeshadow application is admittedly one of the trickier steps in makeup, and when that unsteady hand is met with smaller, Asian-shaped eyes, reaching out for that pretty palette you splurged on can be much more daunting. Today, we’re putting all of those insecurities to bed, because when it comes to dolling up our peepers, there’s really nothing to be afraid of.

Back in August, we watched the rise of copper rose eyeshadow as it de-throned the ever-popular rose gold. The subtle touch of coral lends a modern sophistication to a standard black and grey smoky eye, while the iridescent finish amps up the level of glamour – perfect for evenings out. Not too difficult to see why we’re obsessed with this look at the moment, right?

KATE Tokyo Brown Shade Eyes Palette, BR-4

To make it easier for us, KATE Tokyo is adding more eyeshadow palettes to their signature Frame Create Eye Shadow series, each designed with the Asian woman in mind. One palette in particular has caught our eye. With a subtle gradation of brown hues, the Brown Shade Eyes Palette in BR-4 features a shade powder to lift your eye area, as well as a bronzer shade that aptly takes on the copper rose trend. Ahead, we’ll show you how to achieve the finished look for more defined, sultry-looking eyes.

Using the larger tip of the applicator, spread the lightest shade over your lids to create a smooth base. Then, apply the light brown shade with the finer applicator tip below the crease to carve out those deeper-set eyes. Dip the same fine tip into the darkest brown hue and apply it along the lash line, just like how you’d use an eyeliner. Take it down to the bottom lash line too, if you prefer.

Flip the applicator back to the larger tip, grab a tiny amount of the shade powder and apply that to the inner corners of your eyes and a little around the under-eye to brighten up the area. Finally, dip your ring finger into that bronzer shade (or the star of the show, as we’d like to call it) and dab it lightly onto the centre of your lids.
This combination highlights and frames your eyes to make them look larger and much more defined. See, not every attempt at applying eyeshadow has to end in mayhem.
