Laugh-Out-Loud Meme Instagrams That Parody Fashion

While clothes are what we put on our bodies when we leave the house (hopefully inside, too), it’s fashion that seems to intimidate so many people. This is mostly due to its extravagant price points and bourgeois, exclusive second-meanings attached to anyone who even dares to indulge in it. Who’d spend a few thousand dollars on CHANEL’s latest Métiers d’Art accessories when you could get cheap knockoffs from your nearest high-street stores… no?
That’s why Instagram accounts like @Diet_Prada are so successful within the fashion community. Fashion shifts our culture’s perception of sartorial beauty and empowers those who wear it. While cost and ethics are a huge downfall of fashion being considered an art, the creative vision behind some of the biggest houses are artistic geniuses in their own right. That’s why fashion on Instagram makes for great jokes; people love to sh*t on groups that take themselves too seriously.

@Crispino21 superimposes the Devil herself doing silly poses for a cheap laugh. To be fair, the EIC who gained notoriety for her authoritarian regime at Vogue has a pretty meme-able face.

@SlowFashionMemes is an anti high-street account that forces us to remedy our choices shopping brands like Topshop and Zara. We vote for more thrift/vintage shops in Singapore!

Slow Fashion Memes on Instagram “when he presents u with that bling on v day”

@TommyLenk‘s Instagram is pretty self explanatory. Used for an Acne Studios campaign last year, Lenk recreates high fashion looks with literal trash around his house… Who wore it better?

Tom Lenk on Instagram “Get that reesewitherspoon emmys2017 LenkLewkForLess with a metallic party tablecloth FREE FROM MY HAUS ”

@CopThatCover creates magazine covers styled with brands we can all buy into. It’s certainly a breath of fresh air seeing relatable rather than aspirational. We’d buy an issue of L’ostInHell anytime.

@FashionAssistants exposes all the stereotypes about the fashion industry through the lens of the fashion slave. All assistants need a slogan T-shirt that reads, “All I Got Was This Lousy Instagram Account?”

@ShitModelMgmt asserts, models have problems too. While none of us profess to be models, most of these memes are straight-up relatable moments about how others have crushed our self-esteem. Like this one:
