Tomas Maier x Uniqlo Is Great For "Time Off" and "Escape"

No one can give a damn about looking good if we don’t feel good. As temperatures hit an uncomfortable 33°C more and more, it seems more important to keep our armpits dry than to peacock. That’s why the latest Tomas Maier Resort Collection for Uniqlo are a must-look-at, they’re pieces that put us in the right frame of mind: they look relaxed, and, to that fact, also cool us down.

Maier runs his eponymous fashion label with a similar mindset working on this collection for Uniqlo, and is also creative director at Bottega Veneta. He has been credited heavily for reviving the luxury fashion house out of bankruptcy after his appointment there in 2001. He said, “Beach attire can turn into lounge wear, casual cover-ups paired with polo shirts can easily be worn in town — this is the concept of my brand.” That’s the same concept all of us use to think of shopping for clothes, too.
Yuki Katsuta, Group Senior Vice President of Fast Retailing and Head of Global R&D at Uniqlo, chimed in, “I am sure people will love mixing and matching pieces from our first resort wear collection, adding a splash of summer fun to everyday living, weekends, and vacation travel.” We see comfortable basics and swimwear in neutral tones, with an occasional pop of colour like lavender and vermillion, and not forgetting Maier’s icon, using palm trees as a print for shirts.
