The New Converse One Star And MadeMe Collab Is All About Girl Power

The latest Converse One Star collaboration will finally be dropping on our shores, and boy, or should we say girl, are we excited about it.
Our all-time favourite sneaker brand Converse join forces with New York-based “for girls, by girls” streetwear label MadeMe to create its inaugural collection of premium footwear. The collection has been described as one that “exudes individuality” and “emanates girl-power vibes” — and they sure weren’t kidding.

Promotional photos from the 90s-inspired capsule stars singer-songwriter Lourdes Leon proudly showing her body hair. It’s a bold move for sure, and we’re all for shattering gender norms. Already, this is a collection that’s delivering on its promise — of female empowerment made by, and for, the modern women in mind.
And when it comes to shoes, they didn’t disappoint either.

Luxe fabrics are used to lend a soft touch in the first pack, which features six-wale corduroy chunky ribbed fabric on a platform silhouette, with leather accents and widened cotton laces. The sprightly design and bright colours will add that spring in each step.

The second pack will come in reissued washed suede upper on a similar platform silhouette, with more muted colourways for a tougher grunge. Who said you can’t look cool while attempting to smash the patriarchy?
Girls run the world, as sang by queen Beyoncé. With shoes as comfortable and stylish as this, it sure makes things easier. Each pair will retail at $159.90, and will be available come May 25 at Dover Street Market and Limited Edt Vault.
