The Latest Airline Updates That’ll Elevate Your Next Flight

Let’s face it—everyone’s a little claustrophobic. The thought of spending hours locked in a metal container can drive some people (and definitely babies) crazy sometimes. But airlines are doing everything they can to make your trip that much sweeter—from expanded economy seats to luxurious first class cabins. And now they’re moving beyond seats to improving other amenities. With these latest updates from various airline companies, you might just look forward to the ride as much as the destination itself.

Emirates

During the holy month, Emirates will serve special iftar meals for customers breaking their fast onboard. These iftar meal boxes are specially created, from the design inspired by the Middle East, to the menu which includes couscous salad and grilled chicken, spinach fatayer, assorted sweets, laban, and water. It is also available for all passengers across all cabin classes on selected Emirates flights that coincide with iftar times. In addition, a slew of Eid festivities will also be held onboard, and customers can look word to sweet treats (like Eid cookies and Lakrids), and a shopping discount of 20% for onboard duty-free purchase above USD$95.

Singapore Airlines

Apart from launching the world’s longest commercial flight between Singapore and New York (the travelling time will be up to 18 hours and 45 minutes), the national carrier will also feature designs of artists with special needs on their products. Starting in June 2018, these will include snack boxes for Economy Class customers. It’s a great step toward inclusivity, with the first design featuring sketches of satay and kueh lapis by a local artist from the Artist Development Programme under Pathlight School. Other products will also be available on KrisShop.com, including the Dino Pouch famously carried by Ho Ching.

British Airways

Long-haul flights can be a tiring affair. It’s impossible to imagine how some people can fall right into a deep sleep while seated vertically the entire time. It’s an envious trait we all wished we had. But for those who have difficulties getting some shut-eye, British Airways’ Club World customers travelling between Singapore and London can now rest their body on luxurious bedding. Think soft sheets, woven blankets, fluffy pillow, padded mattress cover, and comfy duvet—all with the intention to lull you into a deep slumber. Created from luxury lifestyle brand, The White Company, Club World customers can also look forward to a special amenity kit designed to soothe the effects of long-haul travel.

Etihad

Loungewear can border on pyjamas-looking easily, but this new collection by Etihad will prove otherwise. Designed in collaboration with an Emirati fashion label A Fried of Mine by Xpoze, the result is a relaxed, clean look inspired by the traditional Emirati dress. It is made with an anti-bacterial and hypoallergenic material, and will be available on all First Class flights and customers staying in The Residence on board the Airbus A380 fleet. Now, this is one stylish airline memento we’ll want to keep.
